The Ivory Coast plans to build a 25MW solar PV plant in the north of the country in Benguébougou, Korhogo, which will be one of the first solar plants in the country.
The government approved the 23.6-billion CFA franc (US$88 million) project on Wednesday after an initial agreement in November 2016. Korhogo Solaire, a subsidiary of Morocco’s Nova Power has been selected for the construction, financing and maintenance of the plant.

Construction is set to begin this year, creating around 300 jobs, with commissioning set for 2018-2019.
The Ivory Coast has been pegged by investors as an up and coming market; with most of the focus being on West Africa up until now. The government hopes to attract enough investment to double output to 4GW by 2020.
