Ontario has opened a 140MW solar procurement round as part of its new Large Renewable Procurement (LRP) programme, aimed at projects over 500kW.
The competitive scheme, which replaces the feed-in tariff, is only open to pre-registered bidders. A list of 42 companies, covering all technologies, has been released. Conergy, SunEdison, NextEra and EDF are among those that made the grade.
Proposals must be in by 1 September 2015 with the winners scheduled to be notified in November and December.
It is the first significant procurement round in the country since it passed anti-dumping duties against Chinese module makers earlier this month. Canadian Solar was given duties of 174.2%. The company is not on the approved list of developers for the LRP scheme.
