Construction started in July this year, energy generation is expected for January 2018.

The plant has a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) that was awarded in Brazil’s August 2015 reserve energy auction conducted by energy agency ANEEL.

“This assignment is further recognition of Pöyry's vast experience and best practices in the implementation of large projects, including in the area of power generation,” said Nilson Niero, Pöyry's director of consulting, energy, infra and special projects for Latin America.

ANEEL recently cancelled nine solar projects totalling 249.7MW of capacity and 16 wind farms with a combined capacity of 307.7MW in its first ever de-contraction auction.
