Norway headquartered integrated PV module manufacturer REC Group has selected Aurora Solar Technologies inline measurement and control technology for the optimization of its Singapore fab’s multicrystalline PERC (Passivated Emitter Rear Cell) production.
Aurora said that the initial order received was for two ‘Decima 3T’ and ‘Veritas’ products, with a letter of intent (LOI) for an additional units. The first two systems are expected to ship in January 2018.
The company noted that LOI was subject to a decision to expand production beyond this initial phase, the project would potentially lead to the use of up to eight Decima 3T and Veritas units.
“We are excited to see another endorsement of our unique capabilities for solar cell characterization from an industry leader,” said Michael Heaven, Aurora’s Chief Executive Officer. “We look forward to working with REC Group to realize the benefits of the inline measurement systems for rapid ramp-up of the new lines and to optimize the manufacturing yield of these advanced cells."
REC Group is continuing to upgrade all its cell lines to PERC and half-cut cells as well as REC having placed an order for the latest generation diamond wire cutting technology for multicrystalline silicon block slicing with Meyer Burger.
PV CellTech 2019 will explain the key issues driving solar cell production changes over the next 2-3 years, and what type of advanced cell types will gain market-share. Featuring the CTOs and heads of R&D from leading cell producers, equipment/material suppliers and research institutes, PV CellTech will again prove to be the must-attend solar cell manufacturing event of the year.
