The installation is comprised of approximately 723,000 Canadian Solar CS6X-P photovoltaic (PV) solar modules mounted on single-axis tracking tables. The site will generate enough PV energy to meet the electricity needs of approximately 50,000 homes.

Dr. Shawn Qu, chairman and chief executive officer of Canadian Solar, said: “The completion of the Garland project is another example of the Recurrent Energy team’s high-quality execution on our 1.2 gigawatts of 2016 US solar projects.”

The facility — which stands as Recurrent Energy’s ninth completed solar project in Kern County, California — generated 572 peak construction jobs. Signal Energy Constructors provided engineering, procurement and construction services.

Electricity and the associated renewable energy credits (RECs) produced by the Garland Solar Facility will be sold under long-term power purchase agreements to Southern California Edison (SCE).

PV Tech has been running an annual PV CellTech Conference since 2016. PV CellTech USA, on 8-9 October 2024 is our second PV CellTech conference dedicated to the U.S. manufacturing sector. The goal is simple: to map out PV manufacturing in the U.S. out to 2030 and beyond.
