SolarCity, the largest US PV installer, has secured a new US$400 million round of funding bringing its total funds raised to over US$9 billion. 

The company said that the new US$400 million fund was created with an unspecified large financial institution. 

SolarCity recently reported second quarter 2015 installations of 189MW, compared to 153MW in the seasonally weak first quarter, up 77% year-on-year. The company added 44,900 customers in the quarter. 

SolarCity has guided installations to almost double in 2015 from the previous year to nearly 1GW. The company reached cumulative installations of 1,418MW at the end of the second quarter, an increase of 86% year-on-year.
