Sunways and Heckert Solar have integrated DuPont Microcircuit Materials (MCM) ‘Solamet PV17x’ photovoltaic metallization pastes into their production lines to produce higher efficiency solar cells and modules. Having introduced the new metallization paste earlier this year, MCM claims that the material is responsible for 10% lower material consumption while enabling higher cell efficiencies and process reliability.
Sunways is said to have recently adopted Solamet PV17x for its coloured crystalline silicon modules used in BIPV applications. The ‘NeMo’ module from Heckert is made with the same metallization pastes.
“We have high standards for Heckert Solar modules and are pleased to be working with DuPont to understand how we can boost our module efficiency even further,” noted Georg Napetschnig, Chemnitz, Germany site manager at Heckert Solar. “Solar cells metalized with Solamet PV17x exhibit a wide processing latitude best suited to meet the requirements for the various solder assembly techniques we employ. The excellent solderabilty and use of thicker ribbons in particular contribute to higher productivity and a significant improvement in cell to module power.”
