JinkoSolar has been selected to supply two PV power plant projects in South Africa with a total of around 115MW of modules.
The projects form part of the South African Renewable Energy Independent Power Producers Procurement programme, phase 2.
According to Jinko Solar’s project description and data compiled by PV Tech, the projects would seem to be those of German-based project developer, Scatec Solar and financed by investment fund, Norfund of Norway.
Norfund was previously cited by Scatec Solar to be responsible for providing 21% of the equity in each of projects. Further funds were said to have been provided by South African firms, Old Mutual and Standard Bank.
Arturo Herrero, chief marketing officer of JinkoSolar said: “JinkoSolar has been very successful in winning contracts in South Africa thanks to the trust from our customers and local banks, in both the first and second phases.”
Scatec Solar and Norfund also won a contract for a 75MW plant in Kalkbult as part of Phase 1, which is under construction using modules by another Chinese module supplier, BYD.
