Meyer Burger Wafertec has received an order for its wire saws totalling CHF4.5 million (US$5.11 million) from Russian optoelectronics firm Monocrystal. The saws, which are fitted with diamond wire technology, will slice synthetic sapphire into wafers used for the production of light-emitting diodes (LEDs). Shipment of the saws will take place in Q3.
