REC Solar ASA has won its first order for its recently launched ‘Peak Energy’ 72-cell module series from a major, undisclosed US EPC firm for utility-scale projects totalling 85MW.
“Signing these substantial agreements less than two months after the announcement of REC's 72-cell, 1000-volt panel offering confirms the strong demand for our high-quality, duty-free products in all market segments from residential to utility scale,” said Arndt E. Lutz, senior VP, North America & Carribbean, REC Group. “Based on our discussions with several large EPC firms and developers in the US, we believe that our order pipeline in the US will continue to increase”
The PV manufacturer said that shipments of the new modules would begin in July 2015 through to February 2016.
The company reiterated that it had already doubled its US orders from a year ago.
Large-sized modules have been offered by a number a major PV manufacturers over the last few years, primarily for utility-scale and large commercial rooftop projects, indented to support BOS cost reductions by reducing inventory and installation times.
