An India-based c-Si cell manufacturer has placed a follow-on order with Roth & Rau for turnkey wafer production lines that are worth €92 million, which follows a previous order worth €80 million for cell production lines placed last year. The completion of the order is not expected until 2011. Roth & Rau also noted that new orders in total had now reached €250 million, up from €225.3 million at the end of the first quarter, 2010. The company had previously guided sales to reach €285 million in 2010.
“Wafer and cell production development are now available from a single source,” commented Dr. Dietmar Roth, CEO of Roth & Rau AG. “This generates synergy effects at customers in terms of their project handling and ramp-up expenses. At the same time, Roth & Rau can itself draw on its longstanding experience in the cell line project business when handling such projects.”
Roth & Rau’s CEO also noted that the company had seen increased demand for its turnkey solutions, especially from Asia and that the company had deliberately expanding its expertise in the wafer production sector, which is currently undergoing a renewed capacity expansion phase.
“In recent months we have focused more closely on wafer production and deliberately expanded our expertise in this area. Not only that, offering wafer production systems enables us to access sales markets for our two new silicon crystallisation products, SiNUS 840 and TiTUS 1200,” added Roth.
