In a rare sector occurrence, a new customer based in Turkey has placed a 150MWp turnkey solar module assembly line order with equipment specialist, SCHMID Group.
The order is for three semi-automatic module assembly lines, which will be delivered in the second half of 2013, according to the company. The identity of the new customer was not revealed, but a SCHMID spokesman told PV Tech that the customer was from the energy sector in Turkey.
Günter Bauer, vice president of SCHMID's module business unit, said: “They benefit from an attractive local market and the easy access to Middle Eastern and south-western Asian markets. Furthermore with the imposition of anti-dumping duties on Chinese modules, their market position in Europe is improving.”
SCHMID noted that for the fast ramp-up of new module lines at the customer's site, it certifies the production steps, materials and modules at its own technology centre prior to the customer beginning ramping.
In addition, new players are provided with training to enable faster learning curves of production processes and enable high-quality production must earlier than is typically achieved, according to the company.
SCMID had also announced at Intersolar Europe that it was guaranteeing turnkey production lines for the manufacture of high-efficiency ‘PERC’ cells with 20% efficiency.
