In what the company’s CEO hailed as a major breakthrough, Singulus Technologies has received an order for its recently developed thin-film processing equipment. The order is worth €19 million and underlines attempts to broaden its product portfolio and enter new markets. Singulus said that it had been developing the technology in close cooperation with this customer during 2009.
“This contract is a major breakthrough for Singulus as we seek to establish a second business field of machinery and equipment for photovoltaics,” commented Roland Lacher, CEO of Singulus. “We have been working very hard over the past few months to develop new, ultra-cost-effective machinery concepts for solar technology and we are now planning to bring them onto the market this year.
The news comes on the back of its recent 2009 financial results and its planned development of complete turnkey ‘front-end’ production lines with recently acquired Stangl.
