Yingli Green Energy has placed a multiple systems order worth €9.6 million for Roth & Rau’s ‘SiNA’ series antireflective coating systems. Yingli Green recently noted that its PANDA cell efficiency improvement project had recorded average efficiency rates of 18% or higher on its pilot production line. Roth & Rau said that the SiNA tools were required for a new high-efficiency solar cell that would have a production capacity of 200MWp.
“The Yingli order shows that our intensive research and development activities have enabled us to further boost our innovative strength,” commented Dr. Dietmar Roth, CEO of Roth & Rau AG. “Particularly when it comes to innovative cell concepts and novel technologies aimed at achieving greater efficiency, we are viewed worldwide as a competent partner and our orders reflect this.”
Roth & Rau also noted that it had received further orders from China-based c-Si PV manufacturers for its antireflective coating systems worth a total of €5 million. Total order backlog now stands at €106.4 million.
Only a month ago, the equipment supplier reported that market conditions were tough as PV manufacturers were reluctant to invest in new capacity. Roth & Rau said that these new orders were a sign that a recovery in equipment purchases from Chinese manufacturers was underway.
