Panasonic has taken its interest in renewables and energy efficiency to a new level with the creation of a new business unit. The Panasonic Eco Solutions North America division will focus on the design, implementation and financing of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects throughout the US and Canada. Panasonic Eco Solutions advised that it plans to offer wide-ranging renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions to corporate and public sector organizations all the way from the planning and engineering stages through implementation, construction, permanent financing and ongoing system maintenance.
“Panasonic Corporation is committed to becoming the leader in green innovation in the electronics industry by 2018 and the launch of this company will take us one step closer to achieving that goal,” explained Jim Doyle, president of Panasonic Eco Solutions North America. “With a focus on the long term, Panasonic recognizes that saving, generating and storing energy are fundamental needs that require practical solutions both now and moving forward. Panasonic has a broad range of technologies from solar panels, to lighting controls, to high-capacity energy storage batteries to create solutions.”
The Eco Solutions division also advised that it had entered into a strategic alliance with Renewable Social Benefit Funds, L3C (RSB Funds) in order to offer development and financing solutions to organizations interested in solar solutions. The relationship will initially last through the end of 2012 with RSB Funds working to co-develop commercial-scale solar projects in North America. Both companies will work to deliver financing, building and maintenance solutions for commercial PV projects for the private and nonprofit sectors.
