The solar module manufacturer Perlight Solar has announced that its modules have been approved for use by the California Energy Commission. To take advantage of the domestic solar supply chain, all major manufacturing steps are carried out in Texas, although the headquarters remain in China.
The modules are ideal for the Buy American program and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act 2009 as they typically contain 90% American content.
Perlight’s business development director Gideon Needleman, commented, “We are very excited to be making our solar panels in the USA. People and businesses support solar power because they care where their energy comes from. By manufacturing solar panels in America, we prove that sustainable energy and sustainable jobs go hand in hand.”
The product series, which has already been shipped out to New York, Arizona, Florida and Maryland, includes high efficiency monocrystalline modules such as 80-cell 350W and smaller 60-cell 250W modules.
