Phoenix Solar has been granted project rights for a 50MWp solar park in Kazanlak, Bulgaria. In 2009, the company had secured project rights for a park 20MWp in capacity; however, this new permit details the construction of 10 5MWp projects, which will be eligible to avail of the country’s feed-in tariff, currently standing at approximately €0.248 per kWh.
Construction on the first phase of the project, which is being built on 114 hectares of land belonging to the Municipality of Kazanlak, is scheduled for the end of 2011. Phoenix Solar is currently in discussions with several investors to sell the project now that all necessary approvals and legalities have been granted.
“We have been actively engaged in Bulgaria's photovoltaic market since October 2009. The successful project development and the subsequent sale of the solar power plant in Kazanlak is another step forward in the internationalisation of Phoenix Solar AG. It is the largest project development ever of Phoenix Solar AG”, stated Dr. Andreas Hänel, Phoenix Solar’s CEO.
