Due to take place over a three-day period from July 28th to 30th, Photon’s 5th annual Photovoltaic Technology Show 2009 has been cancelled due to poor registration figures. Following a successful show in 2008, the company has decided to refund existing registered attendees for this year’s event, citing external factors and companies’ cutting of travel budgets for the loss in numbers.
Further reasons cited by Photon for the difficulties faced this year, compared to previous years, include a more challenging visa acquisition situation, intensified security issues in the country as well as an overall lack of financing on the part of participating companies due to product price decreases and a general lack of finances.
Earlier in the year, the 3rd annual SNEC (2009) PV POWER EXPO, which was claimed to have been a massive success, did not seem to encounter the same obstacles. SNEC welcomed 1,032 exhibitors and nearly 60,000 visitors to the International Expo Centre in Pudong, Shanghai, experiencing a huge last-minute rush for registration for the event.
