Pictometry International has developed ‘Pictometry Online,’ a web-based technology offering a vast library of 3-D-like, high resolution aerial images. It is designed to enable solar contractors to quickly, easily and accurately calculate solar exposure, panel placement, sizing, roof pitch and square footage—information that is essential for positioning panels for maximum sun exposure and energy output.

Problem

Determining whether or not a home or commercial building is suitable for mounting solar panels is a big part of the job. Pictometry offers the most advanced set of technologies that allow contractors to view and measure available roof space to determine the tilt and direction of the roof, and even identify obstacles that could make installation difficult or cause shade problems. For many property owners, cost and complications are the leading deterrents to retrofitting their rooftop with solar panels.

Solution

Determining the proper placement of solar panels is typically more complicated than taking a simple four-corner roof measurement. Steep, multi-story, and chopped-up roofs increase the complexity involved in determining panel placement, which in turn, increases human error. Using Pictometry to calculate accurate roof measurements makes the process of measuring unorthodox roofs a less daunting and error-filled task. Unlike satellite or aerial images which provide orthogonal (straight down) views, Pictometry specializes in oblique (an approximate 40 degree angle) image capture. Pictometry can capture and process images of each targeted geographic area from 12 to 20 different views. As a result, buildings, properties and areas are identifiable and recognizable in the 3-D life-like appearance people are accustomed to seeing.

Applications

PV projects and installations from residential to utility-scale.

Platform

Pictometry International specializes in aerial oblique image capture and software solutions for professionals in government agencies and commercial industries. Pictometry’s technology is available as a subscription service.

When it comes to storage, the US market exceeded a gigawatt of advanced energy storage installations (weighted towards lithium ion) at 1.46 GW, more than the previous six years in total! An exponential growth rate could see the market hit 7.5 GW p.a. by 2025. The summit will provide a wealth of content around this vital piece in the US power puzzle, with sessions dedicated to explore how companies are making money from batteries, the latest chemistries and their applications as they apply to different use-cases. We ask how investors can match ESG criteria to batteries and we will bring case studies of successful deployment and project execution onto the stage to examine how you can ensure your own projects are successful.
