Proinso sales in India have passed the 62MW mark, according to the company.
The Spanish PV systems manufacturer has sold 27.1MW in 2013 alone (up to August) which represents a record period of results in the Indian market for the firm.
The company’s sales now total 62.3MW split across 137 projects. Almost all of this is split between southern India (16.2MW) and the western part (45.5MW).
“India is a country of strategic interest to Proinso, since it is the largest renewable energy market in South Asia and is expected to grow even more in the region. The country expects to have over 20,000MW installed by 2022,” the company said in a statement.
Proinso expects its hybrid diesel solar systems to continue in popularity in the country.
The systems allow round the clock power in off grid locations but offer reduced cost and emissions compared to traditional fossil fuel powered generators.
