Proinso, a supplier of PV equipment, has delivered 5MW worth of inverters for installation at, it claims, the first on-grid solar project on the India-owned Andaman and Nicobar islands.
As a global distributor of SMA products, Proinso’s strategic partner for the Indian market Cirus Solar delivered 5MW of SMA’s Sunny Central SC800 CP XT inverters to the project which is being constructed in the city of Port Blair.
According to Proinso, the inverters are specifically designed for use in large PV plants, have a homogeneous structure as well as the ability to feed electricity into a medium-voltage power grid.
Proinso said it regarded India as an important solar market and in 2012 the company established a new office in Mumbai. To date, it has delivered 55MW worth of PV equipment.
Commenting on the supply deal, a spokesperson from Proinso’s management team said: “It cements our position in the Indian solar PV market. Since we started operating in India, we’ve delivered more than 55MW in PV solar materials to different projects. Setting up an office in Mumbai last year, we’ve strengthened our business strategy in the country. We’re confident in the expansion of our business opportunities in off-the-grid systems in the country. We strive to offer leading services, supporting big installers in the Indian market.”
