Ampere Equity Fund has obtained a large majority interest in a 9.7MW portfolio of ground-mounted solar PV projects in the Puglia region of Italy. The solar PV projects are under development by Winch Energy, who will keep the remaining equity, and are to begin construction between the fourth quarter of 2010 and the first quarter of 2011.
Winch Energy is building the solar projects over 113 acres of land and will use United Solar’s, Uni-Solar PVL-144 laminates on most of the projects, as well as polycrystalline modules by Astronergy. Grid connection is anticipated for April 2011 and will have a 20-year Italian Feed-in tariff advantage associated with the project.
Nicholas Wrigley, chairman and founder of the Winch Energy Group said, “This partnership with the Ampere fund is the beginning of a new and exciting phase for the Winch Energy Group which will see Winch Energy move from being a pure developer to a long term owner and operator of solar PV projects. I expect that the partnership with Ampere will see the number of projects under co-ownership increase significantly over the next year starting from this base.”
