Canadian Solar has installed what it calls Ontario’s first 250KW photovoltaic rooftop system through its subsidiary, Canadian Solutions. The installation is being completed with Towcon Holdings and Aecon.
The rooftop PV system includes 1326 Canadian crystalline-silicon solar panels on approximately 74,668 square feet, with a total rated capacity of 305KW (DC). The system is owned by Dave Walden, president of Towcon Holdings, and is located in Cambridge, ON.
“From completing the feasibility study to installing the first CS6P 230 panel, the installation team followed all required due diligence guidelines,” said Walden. The rooftop system “will increase the amount of solar power produced within Ontario while providing tangible financial benefits to this community.”
The financial specifics of the deal were not disclosed.
Canadian Solar announced in December that it will build a ~200MW solar module factory in the province in 2010, with the site selection and other facility details to be finalized during the first quarter.
