Assyce Fotovoltaica, the Spanish solar integrator, is to construct a 26MWp First Solar free-field solar power plant in Extremadura. The plant, which will be constructed over 69 hectares, will be the largest First Solar integration in the country.
Luis Garrido, managing director of Assyce Fotovoltaica said, “Due to the high level of solar radiation in the south of Spain, we can expect a very good yield of electricity. In contrast to traditional power plants, electricity loss is considerably reduced,.”
Assyce will install 337,000 First Solar thin-film modules on the 69-hectare site, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2010. The company will also implement an inverter system from SMA Technology, which will consist of 36 transformer stations.
“We are making an important contribution to the climate protection and to the expansion of renewable energy resources,” explains Garrido. “Power from the sun always has a future and will remain an important pillar of renewable energy.”
