Mortenson Construction, a leader in wind power projects, was chosen by enXco to partner in building a 1.8MW solar PV array in Belle Mead, NJ. This will be the first solar power project for Mortenson.
“Mortenson is committed to helping customers nationwide meet their clean energy goals,” said Mark Donahue, general manager for Mortenson’s Renewable Energy Groups. “Our expertise developed in the wind energy industry allows us to deliver a better building experience for customers in solar and other renewable energy markets. enXco is forward thinking in the renewables industry and Mortenson is pleased to partner with them on a project that is important to advancing the solar market as well as improving the economy of New Jersey.”
The solar array will be a ground-mounted fixed tilt. It is projected to use 25,000 PV modules and is being constructed for Carrier Clinic, a non-profit customer of enXco. Slated to be the largest solar power project in New Jersey, the project will cover nearly 14 acres and is anticipated to supply 50% of Carrier Clinic’s electrical needs during periods of peak demand.
