Sustainable Energy Technologies Sunergy inverters and peripheral components have been selected for 244 ground-based Ontario micro-FIT projects. The systems, which hold a total capacity of 2.44MW, are being developed by an undisclosed solar power project developer and will have Sustainable Energy’s inverters delivered during the next six months.
“We believe that the micro-FIT market will take CAN$80 to $100 million worth of inverters over the next six to nine months. This is one of the first large micro-FIT orders in the Province and positions Sustainable Energy as a key player in this part of the Ontario market,” said Michael Carten, CEO of Sustainable Energy.
The Ontario Power Authority (OPA) disclosed that there were around 19,000 micro-Fit application through July 2, 2010. Of those 19,000, less than 5% had actually been installed and commission by the end of August. It’s estimated that at 10kW per system, a 36,000 inverter demand is possible and would be worth CAN$80 to $100 million.
