Furnishing retailer IKEA has announced plans to expand a rooftop PV installation on top of its store in Canton, Michigan.
The new addition to the existing PV array will increase its area size by approximately 25% and will consist of a 240.9kW system with 765 panels. Construction on the array is slated to begin in Spring 2015 and will be completed later that summer.
The new array is expected to produce an additional 287,490kWh of electricity for the store. Once the installation is fully completed, the facility will produce 1,426,490kWh of electricity annually— the equivalent of removing 984 tonnnes of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
PV integrator Inovateus Solar LLC will be responsible for the design, development and construction of the expansion to the rooftop array.
