Gehrlicher Solar has announced the construction of a 250MW, ground-mounted solar power plant in the Extremadura region in Spain.
Construction is expected to begin in 2013 and the completion date is 2015.
The local Spanish goevernment and the prime minister of the Extremadura region signed the agreement for the construction.
"This mega project impressively demonstrates that the PV industry, not only in Spain but throughout Europe, will be competitive even without subsidies," Gehrlicher Solar's CEO Barea Guillermo commented.
"With support from the government of Extremadura, this project will make a significant contribution to the 'renaissance' of the PV industry in Spain. I am convinced that Mega-projects and internal consumption are the two most important building blocks for the future. The photovoltaic industry has only just started."
