Kyocera has installed two of the world’s largest off-grid solar power systems in the Gobi Desert. The projects are part of the World Bank’s Renewable Energy for Rural Access Project and will see the remotely-situated Mongolian villages of Gobi-Altai and Bayantooroi serviced installations with a combined power 305.1kW. Due to the desert’s harsh winter climate, which can see temperatures plummet to -30°C, construction of the 202.5kW Gobi-Altai and 102.6kW Bayantooroi systems took place over the summer.
