Leading CdTe thin-film producer and project developer First Solar has started construction on the first of three PV projects for US utility, Indiana Michigan Power (I&M).

First Solar noted that the Twin Branch Solar Facility in Mishawaka, Indiana, a 2.6MW project that has started construction, along with the 5MW Olive Solar Facility in New Carlisle, Indiana and the 4.6MW Watervliet Solar Facility in Watervliet, Indiana are all expected to be operational by the end of 2016 and would be connected to I&M's distribution system.

First Solar also collaborated with GEM Energy as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for Twin Branch. I&M is expected to own and operate the plant, and will be supported by system monitoring software provided by First Solar subsidiary skytron energy.
