Renewable energy development company SunEdison has received non-recourse financing from Japan-based Shinsei Bank for its 9.6MW PV plant, located on the Japanese island of Kyushu.

Shinsei Bank is expected to lend SunEdison 80% of the total project cost, with the first drawdown on 24 February 2015. The plant is expected to commence operations in September 2015.

SunEdison noted that the plant was one of the first ground-mounted utility-scale installations by a US company to receive financing from a Japanese bank.
