Status: Completed

Size: 6.4MW

PV developer NRG Energy and MGM Resorts International have successfully installed a 6.4MW rooftop array on top of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

The project, which MGM claims is the world’s largest rooftop PV array built on top of a convention center, spans 8.1 hectares on top of resort and will produce enough energy to power over 1,000 US homes annually.

The completion of the array is not the final step for both NRG and MGM, as both companies are planning on building another an additional 2MW PV installation on top of the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, which is slated to be built later this year.

NRG financed, built, owns and maintains the installation, while Mandalay Bay Resort will buy all electricity generated from the arrays as part of a power purchase agreement.
