PV developer Dragon Energy Solutions has installed a 250kWp rooftop PV system at the training facility of the Parc y Scarlets rugby stadium located in Llanelli, South Wales.
The installation is located on the SSW-facing roof of the Scarlets Indoor Training Centre, located next to the stadium. Power generated by the array is inverted back into the centre and is then transferred over to the Parc y Scarlets stadium through cabling set up between the two facilities.
The project is believed to be the largest PV array installed on a sports facility in the UK. Made up of 980 JA Solar 255Wp polycrystalline modules, the installation is expected to generate 239,841kWh/year of electricity when operational.
Rob Gammon, managing director of Dragon Energy Solutions, said: “The Scarlets PV installation is a significant project and is the first of many other similar sized projects we are currently planning throughout South Wales and beyond.”
