Construction work on New Zealand’s largest off-grid solar power system is underway. The Motutapu Island project is being managed by the Department of Conservation and will generate at least 65,000kWh annually. Over NZ$750,000 is being invested in the island’s solar reinvention, with Power Technology Components equipping the facility with modules, inverters and batteries; panels are being installed on the barracks at the Motutapu Outdoor Education Camp.
