Global technology leader Google and renewable energy developer Duke Energy Carolinas are collaborating on a 61MW PV project in North Carolina that will help power Google’s new data centre in Lenoir.
The solar installation will be developed in Rutherford County in Duke Energy Carolinas' service area. As part of the power purchase agreement with the project, Duke Energy will use energy generated by the facility to meet energy demands for Google’s new centre.
Google enrolled in Duke Energy’s Green Source Rider program for the project, which gives Google the ability to harness energy from the PV site for its data centre.
