The County of San Bernardino and PVNavigator (PVN), part of the Project Navigator (PNL) group, signed a lease option agreement, which will see PVN assess the potential development of a solar PV facility at the Barstow Sanitary Landfill in Barstow, California. The solar project will range between 10MW to 20MW with the power it generates sold to Southern California Edison.
Ian Webster, president of PNL, commented, “This project moves us one step closer to our goals of developing renewable, solar energy solutions on brownfields and urban‐located closed landfills that are otherwise deemed as unusable land.”
PVN plans to manage all development phases of the Barstow PV project including its design, permitting, financing and implementation. This is the second lease option the county has entered into with PNL. The first agreement was for a 2MW solar facility at the Big Bear landfill.
