REC advised that its solar modules had ranked first during the first half of the year-long Photon Field Performance Test. Over the first six months of the comparative quality study, REC modules are said to have produced more electricity than 46 other modules that were participating in the test and generated 6% more power on average between January to June.
The test, conducted by Photon trade magazine, calculates how many kWh of electricity a module produces in one year under real life conditions in the field. Three modules from each participating supplier are tested at an outside location in Germany. While REC modules placed first, Siliken, Solarworld, Upsolar and Trina Solar rounded out the top five for energy performance during the first six months of testing.
