Over 50MW of new solar energy projects have been brought into commerical operation by Recurrnet Energy. Comprised of three projects located in Elk Grove, Galt and Sloughhouse, California, the three projects are delivering energy to the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) under a 20-year FiT.
In their first year of operation the solar installations are expected to produce around 90,000,000kWh of electricity. They were installed as part of a four project portfolio introduced in January 2010, with the fourth project is under construction and anticipated to reach commercial operation later this year.
“We are pleased to see these projects come on-line to provide renewable energy to our customers,” said SMUD General Manager & CEO John DiStasio. “SMUD was the first large California utility to have 20% of our power come from renewable sources and we continue to pursue a sustainable and balanced power supply. Completion of the solar projects brings SMUD closer to our goal of 33% renewable energy by 2020.”
