Renesola Ltd, one of the worlds largest solar wafer manufacturers, has appointed Xiaoliang Liang as president of the company’s newly created China division. Mr Liang’s main responsibilities will be to head sales and systems developments for the Chinese market.
Liang has a diverse range of experience in the Chinese renewable energy sector. In 2006 he became business director for Gamesa Energy where oversaw a project to install more than 2GW of wind farms in northern and eastern areas of China. From 2010 to 2011 he was director of project development with AES China, where he headed wind power developments as well as leading work on hydro and thermal power projects. Liang has a master’s degree from North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power.
Mr Xianshou, ReneSola’s CEO said, “While China leads the world in the number of solar panels exported, it lags behind many countries in terms of the number of solar panels installed. This is changing, however, and we believe the Chinese market has impressive growth prospects. In anticipation of this growth, we have established a division focused solely on China, which will be headed by Xiaoliang Liang. We will rely on Xiaoliang's leadership in choosing successful solar projects for our modules. In addition, Xiaoliang will help support our global operations as we look to expand our presence in both developed and emerging solar markets.”
The creation of the new Chinese division comes as the Chinese government recently announced that by 2015 it expects China to have 15GW of solar installations, making China one of the largest solar markets in the world. In late 2011 Renesola completed its first Chinese solar installation, a 20MW solar plant in Qinghai Province.
