Dutch clean energy investor Rijn Capital has secured US$104 million in construction financing for a project in Chile from CorpBanca, the country’s third largest commercial bank.
Work on the San Pedro III project, listed by Rijn Capital as a 33.7MW site, was scheduled to begin in January 2015.
Rijn has a 500MW pipeline of solar projects in Chile. The five San Pedro projects, at various stages of development, are all sited in the northern Antofagasta region, just south of Calama.
According to documents submitted to the UN Clean Development Mechanism in 2013, the project will use Yingli modules.
Solar made big headways in Chile in 2014, and the Latin American country has been tipped to be another strong performer again in 2015.
