SAG solar, a subsidiary of German PV developer SAG Solarstrom, has secured a £29.5 million loan for the recently completed 33MW solar plant at Wymeswold airfield in Leicestershire, UK.
The loan will be provided by Deutsche Bank Group and will run until April 2014. Payment of the loan is subject to compliance with customary banking conditions.
The 33MW project was developed by UK-based Lark Energy while construction was led by SAG Solarstrom. Owned by Hazel Capital, the solar farm was completed and connected by the end of March, and houses 130,000 Trina Solar modules positioned on land between the old runways covering an area of approximately 61 hectares.
Hazel Capital is now keen to sell the project and is currently in discussions with potential investors. The price tag for the facility will be in the mid-double digit million range, the company said.
