Satcon Technology has signed a strategic agreement with Siliken Renewable Energy USA to supply 40 MW of its next-generation PowerGate Plus PV power conditioning solutions to the North American subsidiary of the Spanish system integrator over the next 12 months.
The San Diego-based Siliken unit will employ the full suite of PowerGate Plus utility-proven inverter solutions (11 power ratings, from 30 KW to 1 MW, all UL and CE certified) as well as Satcon’s advanced monitoring and control capabilities, 20-year warranty, and service plan programs, the companies said.
“Our focus is to grow profitably while delivering reliable and cost-effective renewable energy to our customers,” said Leonard Fernandez, VP/GM of Siliken Renewable Energy. “The combination of Satcon’s best-in-class power conditioning solutions and their commitment to partner with us to drive value over the entire lifespan of our projects were key components in our decision to partner with them.”
“As a world leader in delivering efficient and price competitive energy through large-scale solar power projects, Siliken is a strong partner for Satcon,” said Steve Rhoades, the Boston-based company’s president/CEO. “Our proven advanced feature, utility-ready PowerGate Plus solutions are specifically designed to provide consistent and reliable value for these more complex systems. We are pleased to have this opportunity to partner with Siliken to achieve the next wave of large-scale solar power innovation.”
Satcon signed a three-year, 180-MW deal with Samsung in November, and is the inverter supplier to the world’s largest rooftop PV array, the 12-MW system at the General Motors plant in Zaragoza, Spain.
Siliken Renewable Energy USA began operations earlier this year at its San Diego facility, where the company has said it expects to produce 4 MW of solar panels for the regional market in 2008.
