Ajit Solar has successfully started volume production of its first 20MW solar module plant, according to equipment supplier and project manager Schmid Technology Systems. The module plant in Bagru, Jaipur, India is part of Ajit Solar’s plans for backward integration into solar cell production and eventually polysilicon.
Schmid noted that the project took 12 months with final acceptance taking 3 months only, due in part to collaborating with local firms such as Bergen.
Ajit Solar is planning to expand production further in 2010. Key projects include starting cell production and adding more module capacity. Ajit Solar is producing panels for contracts in India and plans to also export panels in the future.
“Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of all three [Ajit, Bergen and Schmid] that in just 12 months, they had managed to turn an old industrial complex lacking facilities into a modern factory with highly qualified staff for producing approved solar modules to the highest quality standards,” noted Sascha Bender, Project Manager in charge at Schmid Technology Systems GmbH.
