Schott Solar and Canopy advised that their 2.2MW Ucciani solar park had been completed. The solar park uses nearly 10,000 Schott PV modules from the company’s Perform Poly series and is connected to the national grid, providing around 2.86GWh of solar energy.
Schott and Canopy mutually developed the solar project through a joint venture with construction provided by Sade, a subsidiary of Veolia. Originally, Bernard Grimaldi, founder of Kyrnesole, was developing the solar installation, but in June 2011, the solar farm was entrusted to Schott and Canopy.
“We are proud of this project,” says Henri Franceschi, Ucciani’s lord mayor. “The completion of this plant contributes to the area’s economic development as well as Corsican independence in the energy sector.” Since the community offered nothing but praises for the solar project, a building permit for a second solar plant has already been submitted for consideration.
