SCHOTT Solar will supply India’s Premier Solar with 200,000 of its ASI PV modules in its largest Asian distribution deal to date. The first shipment of modules was received today and over the course of the next two years around 20MW of modules will be delivered and installed by Premier Solar’s new EPC division, Premier Solar Power Tech.
“This project gives us the opportunity to contribute to climate protection in India. At the same time, Premier Solar’s order will help us to continue expanding our visibility on the Indian market”, said SCHOTT Solar's CEO, Dr. Martin Heming, after signing the contract.
“We decided to go ahead with SCHOTT modules because of their proven durability and reliability as well as the company’s long-standing experience in thin-film technology and their industry-leading 30-year warranty”, added Chiranjeev Saluja, Premier Solar’s managing director.
The record-breaking order is the latest installment in the first phase of the Indian government’s Jawahar Lal Nehru National Solar Mission, which aims to increase the country's solar capacity to 20GW by 2022. To date, the government has awarded 800MW of grid-connected projects out of the 1,100 MW targeted under the mission's first phase; bids for the remaining 300MW are expected to be finalised over the next few months.
