Chinese solar manufacturing and project company, Shunfeng Photovoltaic International has won support from a local Chinese government to build 250MW of solar.
Shunfeng’s subsidiary, Shunfeng Photovoltaic Investment has signed a cooperation agreement with Hainan Xinghai County People’s government, in Qinghai Province.
The agreement states the provincial government from 2014-2017 is to invest in 4,050 hectares of land for joint agriculture and PV development, with 250MW of solar to be installed by Shunfeng.
The development is to be an ‘agricultural demonstration park’ in the plateau area of Tangnaihe Xiang, Longqu Village, Hainan Xinghai.
The local government has agreed to volunteer land for the project, and will be developing the area as an ecological, solar and agricultural base.
Land will be used for large-scale agricultural production, equipped with a greenhouse, while housing solar arrays to generate renewable energy to power the agricultural production.
