As of October 1, Siemans split its renewables division into two departments: wind power and solar and hydro. Dr. Felix Ferlemann was hired as CEO of the wind division at the beginning of October and now the position of CEO of Solar & Hydro has been filled by Theodor Scheidegger. This unit will also be the centre of competence for the development of energy storage technologies.
“We’re pleased to have secured a recognized leader with international experience in the solar industry as CEO of our new Solar & Hydro division,” said Michael Suess, member of the managing board of AG and CEO of the energy sector.
Scheidegger has worked for Siemens for several years in Canada and then at Siemens Solar Industries in California. He subsequently held various executive positions at companies including Invensys, Emerson and the Precious Woods Group in Germany, Switzerland and the UK.
Within the solar and hydro division, Siemens acts as general contractor for large-area PV installations. The company also acquired a minority stake in Semprius, a developer of high concentrating PV modules.
