Interconnect Solar Development has chosen Siemens Industry to equip its 20MW Murphy Flats solar field in Idaho. The multi-million dollar order includes Siemens’ panels, Sinvert inverters, transformers and PV-WinCC SCADA monitoring software, all of which will be manufactured at the company's West Chicago plant.
“The Siemens team demonstrated a true understanding of our project objectives, and the team made a significant investment of their time and expertise to bring additional solar power to electricity customers in Idaho,” Interconnect Solar Development founder Bill Piske said. “Siemens Answers for Industry event first allowed our team the opportunity to learn about the integrated solutions provided by Siemens, as well as the company's PV project experience.”
When completed, the Murphy Flats development will be the first commercial solar system in Idaho Power Company's (Idacorp) service territory. Idacorp was prompted to explore renewable energy sources to accommodate continued growth in summertime peak hour demand.
The Interconnect Solar Development order is the second major equipment sale Siemens has completed this summer; last week the company agreed to supply UTE Termosolar Olivenza’s 50MW concentrated solar power plant in Extremadura, Spain.
