Chinese developer Sky solar is to begin work on its first project in Chile, a 18MW solar plant located in the country’s northern Arica province.
The project will be the company's first venture in the country.
Felipe Andrade, from the Chilean Department of Land, signed off the formal grant, thereby completing the last step needed to begin the construction of the solar plant, which is said to be Chile’s first and largest ground-mounted solar power station.
The project will be developed and constructed using 100% of Sky Solar’s capital. Jose Durana, Mayor of the Arica and Parinacota regions said that the project was also the first large-scale ground-mounted project by any company in Chile.
An expected date of completion was not given.
