Virgin Islands-based Skylar Resources has acquired 100% interest in the option rights from Nevada-based firm KOWEPO Americas to develop a 180MW solar PV project in Boulder City, south-east of Las Vegas.
The Townsite project, which is expected to produce 350GWh of electricity a year, has interconnection rights at the 230kV Mead substation, Gerald Balboa chief commercial officer and chief operating officer of Skylar confirmed to PV Tech.
Skylar is in discussions with several developers and EPC companies to complete the project. It also has a 25-year PPA with Glendale Water & Power for 50MW of the solar plant’s electricity.
Skylar will take over the large generator interconnection agreement with the Western Area Power Administration, with whom Skylar has also signed agreements to be able to supply electricity to customers in the California Independent Service Operator, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Balancing Authority and NV Energy area, among other regions.
The article has been amended to include KOWEPO Americas.
